Excel · pilot setup

Your workbook.
Now with Texel.

Install the pane, connect your account, then review your first result. Start with Excel for the web for the simplest pilot setup.

Before you begin

You need a Microsoft account with Excel access and a Texel pilot account. Installation does not activate model credits. Customer sign-in and hosted processing are still being verified for this pilot.

01

Get your account ready

Your Microsoft account opens Excel. Your Texel account connects the assistant; they are separate sign-ins.

02

Install in Excel

Download Excel add-in

This XML installation file points Excel to the Texel pane. It is not a workbook and contains no account credentials.

Excel for the web · recommended
  1. Open Excel in a new tab and open a copy of your workbook.
  2. Open Home → Add-ins → More Settings → Upload My Add-in. Some versions show this under Insert → My Add-ins.
  3. Choose the downloaded texel-manifest.xml and upload it.
  4. Choose Open Texel on the Home ribbon.
Excel desktop · Windows or Mac

For company pilots, ask your Microsoft 365 administrator to deploy the manifest through Integrated apps. Once assigned, look under My Add-ins / Admin Managed in Excel. Desktop manual installation differs by platform; it is not the same upload flow as Excel for the web.

Without an administrator, use Excel for the web for the pilot.

03

Connect from the pane

In Texel, open account settings and choose Connect account. Sign in, confirm the connection belongs to the pane you just opened, then return to Excel. Do not share connection codes.

You should see your connected account. If you see a service-address or token request, stop and contact your pilot organiser—the customer configuration is not ready. Do not enter model-provider keys.

04

Try one request

Use a test workbook containing lease income and a year timeline. Send:

Calculate the aggregated annual lease income per year. Use the workbook’s year convention and preview the results before writing.

Check the source rows, years, values and destination. Approve only when they match your intent. If a source is ambiguous, clarify it instead of approving a guess.

Something not working?

I cannot find Upload My Add-in

Your organisation may restrict custom add-ins. Ask your Microsoft 365 administrator to enable or deploy Texel; do not disable security policies.

The pane is blank or the connection expires

Close and reopen Texel. Start a new connection from the pane if the code expired. If a sign-in window is blocked, allow the sign-in window for Texel, then retry.

The service is unavailable or I have no credits

Installation and model access are separate. Ask your pilot organiser to check account access and service availability. Reinstalling the add-in will not add credits.
